Ohanaeze Ndigbo FCT Chapter has unveiled a series of landmark programmes aimed at promoting cultural preservation, economic empowerment, and sustainable development for Ndi’Igbo in the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking during a press briefing, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo FCT Chapter, Hon. Chief Andrew Ugwu, announced plans for the 2026 Igbo Day Celebration, the unveiling of the Ohanaeze Cooperative Society, and the maiden Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo FCT Economic and Housing Summit.

The Igbo Day Celebration and Cooperative Society unveiling are scheduled to hold on September 29, 2026, while the Economic and Housing Summit will take place in December 2026. According to the President, the initiatives are designed to strengthen unity among Ndi’Igbo while creating opportunities for wealth creation, business growth, housing development, and community empowerment.

A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Projects Committee, which will drive the implementation of the programmes. The committee is chaired by Hon. Chief Mrs. Ginika Tor, a respected community leader and advocate for economic and social development.

In her acceptance remarks, Chief Ginika Tor thanked the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo FCT Chapter for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to lead a transparent, result-oriented, and inclusive team.

She explained that the committee would focus on strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, sponsorship mobilisation, media visibility, and cooperative development to ensure the successful delivery of all projects.

Describing the initiatives as more than just events, she emphasised that the goal is to create lasting structures that will empower people, support businesses, and contribute to the long-term prosperity of Ndi’Igbo in the FCT and beyond.

The Ohanaeze Ndi’Igbo FCT Chapter called on individuals, corporate organisations, government agencies, and development partners to support the programmes and participate in building a stronger and more economically empowered Igbo community.

“These initiatives are not merely events; they are investments in the future of our people,” the chairperson said.
